Pranayama : The Sanjivani of Life (Breath Control over Body)
Air that we breathe is called "Prana" or in simple english vital life force energy. It is there all the time in our body. We inhale and exhale every second. Air is so precious for life that without which we just die and our existence ceases.
The Air that we breath is full of all the elements that our body needs and the air we exhale is full of impure elements. These elements are in invisible form (sukhshma roop) because air is itself invisible. Hence, you see, just by breathing (inhaling and exhaling) properly for some time in a day we can fulfill our body's elemental needs which we are not at all aware of. If we do this then there there won't be any need for any kind of medicine - allopathic, ayurvedic, homeopathic or any other.
Breathing and Exhaling properly means do pranayama( a proper regulation of breath). If you don't know Pranayama, then here is one which I really like.
- Sit is a comfortable position.
- Close your eyes. This is important because the energy that your will generate throught breath regulation will escape through eyes.
- Close your right nostril with your right hands thumb and inhale deeply.
- Don't release you thumb but keep it pressing your right nostril and stop the air for 4-5 seconds.
- Now, while still stopping your breath, remove thumb from right nostril and close the left nostril with your right hand finger, exhale deeply from your right nostril.
- When you have exhaled every bit of air, keep pressing your left nostril and inhale deeply from your right nostril.
- Keep your left nostril closed and stop your breath for 4-5 seconds.
- Now, while your breath is still suspended, close your right nostril with your right hand's thumb and exhale deeply from your left nostril.
- Do this procedure for 10-20 times in one sitting and try to do it three times a day whenever you get time.
- Also, when you have done 10-20 counts in one sitting, don't open your eyes or get up at once. Try to relax for some time say 5-10 minutes.
This procedure of breath regulation will not only improve your body cells power but also throws out body impurities in form of air outside the body. Your can also do the above procedure without stopping your breath. That will be called Anlom-Vilom Pranayama. But, I recommend above procedure because when you stop your breath your body's cells try to heal themselves until the breath is suspended and when you release air while exhaling, the body cells release impurities with air outside body replacing them with fresh elements.
